DBT Skills Reminder Cuddle Buddies!
I am beyond excited to officially announce the launch of Dialectimals — adorable DBT-inspired companions designed to support emotional wellness, mindfulness, and skill-building in a gentle and playful way. After years spent dreaming, sketching, prototyping, and pouring my heart into this project, the first Dialectimal has finally arrived: The Wise Mind Owl!
Soft, comforting, and purposefully created to help you remember your DBT skills, this tiny but mighty owl is here to sit with you through waves of emotion, cheer you on through self-growth, and offer comfort when things feel heavy. This launch is a milestone — and just the beginning of a much bigger collection.
💛 What is Emotion Mind?
In DBT, Emotion Mind is the state we enter when our feelings take the lead. It’s passionate, intense, impulsive — a place where logic can fade into the background. Emotion Mind isn’t bad or wrong; emotions carry valuable messages. But when we act only from this space, decisions can be fueled by urgency rather than wisdom. We may say things we don’t mean, react quickly, or feel overwhelmed. Recognizing Emotion Mind is the first step in building awareness and learning to slow down, breathe, and choose responses instead of reactions.
🧠 What is Rational Mind?
Rational Mind sits on the opposite side of the spectrum. This part of us thinks logically, analyzes details, plans, solves, and structures. It is thoughtful and reasonable — but sometimes too detached from human feeling. When we live only in Rational Mind, life can become rigid and disconnected. We may overthink, ignore intuition, or dismiss emotions altogether. While Rational Mind helps us function, it needs emotional awareness to create a life that feels fulfilling and balanced.

Wise Mind is where the magic happens — the beautiful balance between Emotion Mind and Rational Mind. It is the grounded inner voice, calm intuition, and thoughtful awareness that guides us toward choices aligned with our values. Wise Mind represents the Middle Path, the space where emotion and logic cooperate instead of clash. Practicing Wise Mind means pausing, noticing, breathing, and responding with clarity and compassion. And now, the Wise Mind Owl exists as a soft, tangible reminder to return to that place whenever you need it.
