Some Days Are Heavy

Some days feel heavier than others. Not because anything dramatic happened. Not because there’s a crisis. Just because it’s one of those days.

The kind where everything feels a little louder. Every request sounds like a demand. Every small inconvenience pulls you closer to tears.

In DBT, we talk about emotion mind, the part of us that leads with feeling. It can make the world feel urgent, overwhelming, and sometimes impossible to manage. Emotion mind isn’t wrong. It’s not bad. It’s just a part of us that shows up when something inside is asking to be witnessed.

When we push that part away, it tends to grow louder. So today, instead of trying to fix it, what if we just noticed it?

What if you said:
“I’m in emotion mind today. Things feel heavy. I’m allowed to feel that.”
No shame. No judgment. Just gentle awareness.

Maybe there’s no action step. Maybe the kindest thing you can do is speak to yourself like you would a friend:
You’re doing your best. You don’t need to have all the answers. You can rest here for a moment.

Radical acceptance doesn’t mean you like it. It means you stop fighting the reality of this moment. And when the fight stops, even for a breath, the heaviness may feel a little less dense.
