Free Coping with Covid DBT support group starting April 10th

Dialectical Living wants to give back to the community and help clients to keep up with their skills during the Covid 19 crisis. Our distress tolerance skills will be coming in handy as will our PLEASE skills among others. Let’s get together and recall our skills, share, validate and support each other! This group will be run by social workers passionate about your wellness donating their time to support the DBT community. This group is for clients who have challenges regulating emotions, have BPD or other mental health issues where emotional intensity and dysregulation is central.

If you are a family member of a loved one who has challenges regulation emotions (BPD or other) we have a group for you “Compassion in Chaos” please go here

Coping with Covid is very difficult for those with challenges regulating emotions. Emotions may be intense and seem insurmountable. As you already know if you have taken DBT before DBT offers a whole tool set to face these challenges. This group is for those who already know some DBT to refresh, keep skills fresh and get help from others on how they are currently using skills and what obstacles they may be facing. The expectation is that you have done at least a 8 DBT group in the past 3 years at a professional DBT clinic. For those who have not done DBT in 3 years or more and/or have not taken their DBT with Dialectical Living we have a refresher that you can take for nominal fee to help you remember and recall the skills. We are also looking to put together a “DBT Express” course. It is important that the population in the group know the core DBT skills in all 4 quadrants so as to keep the group focused on practical use and not as much on teaching.

Group will be 1 hour in length and will be run by social workers donating their time. This group is for those who are 16 years of age and older and is NOT considered a psycho-ed skills learning group. If you want to take a DBT psycho-ed group please go to dialecticalliving.ca and check out our groups. Next Intro to DBT starts on May 12th, 2020

We will be starting these groups on Friday April 10th, 2020 1pm to 2pm and they will be online. We use zoom and you will be sent a link each week prior to group

We are excited to use our contributing skill toward helping our current and previous clients and new clients who have taken some DBT come together in unity and share their strategies, hope, courage and time.
